Distinctive Unit Insignia

Description

A gold metal and epoxied shield shaped device 1 1/8 inch (2.86cm) in height blazoned as follows: Per bend Celeste and Sanguine, issuant from dexter chief a demi sun Or, its centre ray bendwise and throughout, between a caduceus and cross couped of the last. Attached to the bottom of the shield, a Maroon scroll inscribed BROAD SPECTRUM in Gold letters.



Symbolism

Maroon is a traditional color of the US Army Dental Health Department. The demi-sun marks DHC, East as a new command and the ray underscores the motto “BROAD SPECTRUM”. The light blue portion of the shield alludes to the east coast, the area under command. The cross and caduceus are symbols of the dental health heritage and are colored gold for excellence.

 


Background

Authorized 16 September 2016.  The insignia was redesignated 28 February 2024 for the Dental Health Command, East
